On Protracted Absences.

Hello friends, it's been a while.

I suppose that this should be the obligatory return to action post, you know, the one that ends up being an apology of sorts, with me finding a whole bunch of things to blame for my lack of communication. Nope, I won't go there. I won't bore you with reasons and/or excuses. Given the shitstorm of the last twelve months plus, you already know what most of those reasons could possibly be. After all, you've lived through most of them, too.
Yeah, I've been keeping my head down for much of the time, the short reasons being:

1. I have a full-time job outside of writing, one that I've still been able to engage in despite the ongoing pandemic situation, for which I should be and am extremely thankful.
2. I have a family, that I've taken the opportunity to spend as much time with as possible. Again, this is something that has made me feel lucky, as well as probably gotten me through the mess of the previous year more than anything else.
3. I've been using what surprisingly diminished writing time I've had, to work on completing my second novel. It's been an ongoing thing; a labour of love some days, an albatross around my neck on others, but I'm hopeful that the end is in sight and 'Insatiable' will finally see the light of day in the next couple of months (oh, look - title reveal!).
4. As you've probably guessed, I haven't had a hell of a lot worth saying lately.

Things have been pretty quiet on the writing front for a while now. It's strange, the way that, when you think you'll have so much more free time to indulge in something like writing, you end up having so much less. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I gave an interview with Vince Stevenson of Boomers on Books a short while ago - it's still available to view on Vince's YouTube channel, if you'd like to listen to what I sound like when I'm trying to come across as vaguely knowledgeable. There are some great interviews with some other awesome writers there, too, so you might want to do some nosing around.

That's more or less all I have to say for now. At least you know where I've been now - pretty exciting stuff, huh? Until next time, stay safe, it'll all (possibly) be over soon. I'll try not to leave it quite so long in future.
In the meantime, I'd better be getting along.

I've got a novel to finish.
